HR Hiring Fairness & Selection ROI Tutorial

How to Build Your HR Hiring Fairness & Selection ROI Agent

Building your HR agent isn’t a development project — it’s four decisions. Here’s exactly how it works.

Choose the AI platform your team already uses, prepare your hiring data, and connect our MCP. Your agent can then help you examine potential adverse impact across hiring stages, evaluate whether selection assessments predict relevant job outcomes, and estimate the potential financial value of recruitment methods.

Four decisions.

Four decisions

Step 1: Find an Agent Builder

Choose the AI platform you already use, or the one your HR or technology team is standardizing on. Common options include:

The exact setup depends on the platform and the access available to your organization.

The goal is to connect your chosen AI agent to the HR Hiring Fairness & Selection ROI MCP so it can request structured hiring analysis when needed.

Step 2: Add a Data Source

Your agent needs relevant hiring data to analyze selection outcomes. You can begin with data your organization already exports.

CSV / Excel

Start with a CSV or Excel export containing hiring-stage information. For adverse-impact analysis, prepare applicant and selection counts grouped appropriately for comparison, such as the number of applicants and selected candidates at each hiring stage.

For selection validity and ROI analysis, you may also need predictor scores, relevant job-outcome data, applicant-pool information, performance-value estimates, and recruitment assessment costs.

Use only data that is appropriate for the analysis, and follow your organization’s privacy, access-control, and data-handling requirements.

MCP

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is a standard way for compatible AI applications to connect to tools and structured data services.

Instead of relying only on a spreadsheet pasted into a conversation, connecting the HR Hiring Fairness & Selection ROI MCP allows your AI agent to request the hiring-fairness and selection-effectiveness analyses exposed by the MCP.

What Is MCP, and How Does It Work?

In plain terms:

  • Your agent builder—such as Copilot Studio, Cursor, or another compatible client—acts as the MCP client.
  • The HR Hiring Fairness & Selection ROI MCP exposes supported analysis tools to the connected client.
  • When you ask a question about hiring fairness or assessment effectiveness, the agent can call the relevant tool using the data and inputs available to it.
  • The returned analysis can help explain selection-rate differences, potential adverse impact, selection validity, or estimated selection-method utility, depending on the tool and data supplied.

The result is a workflow that combines natural-language interaction with purpose-built hiring analysis, rather than relying on an AI chatbot to improvise statistical conclusions.

Step 3: Choose MCP Where Possible

A spreadsheet is a useful starting point for preparing and supplying your data. MCP provides a standardized way for a compatible agent to access the analysis tools directly.

Choose the MCP route when your platform supports it and you want to ask follow-up questions, run supported analyses, and interpret the results through your AI agent.

Not an automatic HRIS connection

Keep in mind that an MCP connection does not automatically create an HRIS or applicant-tracking-system integration. Data sources and permissions depend on the integrations actually available in your setup.

Connect

Step 4: Connect Our MCP

This is the step that turns a general-purpose AI agent into an HR Hiring Fairness & Selection ROI Agent. Once the MCP is connected, the agent can use its available tools to help analyze hiring data instead of relying on general answers alone.

Pick your platform below and follow the corresponding connection instructions. The configuration steps differ by client, but the goal is the same: connect the HR Hiring Fairness & Selection ROI MCP, complete any required authentication, and verify that the server is enabled.

Pick your platform below. Connecting our MCP is the same idea on each one — you add it once, then sign in with your Saifs AI account.

Walkthrough

What Our AI Agent Can Actually Do — A Walkthrough

Once connected, our HR Hiring Fairness & Selection ROI Agent can use the MCP’s available analysis tools to help answer practical questions about hiring fairness and recruitment effectiveness. Here’s what that looks like in practice.

Imagine your organization receives hundreds of applications and uses several stages: résumé screening, an online assessment, interviews, and final selection. Your hiring dashboard tells you how many candidates progressed, but it may not explain where selection-rate differences emerge—or whether your assessments justify their cost.

Here’s how the agent can help.

  1. Examine selection rates across hiring stages

Provide hiring-stage counts grouped appropriately for comparison. The agent can calculate selection rates and compare them across groups to identify stages that may warrant closer review.

For example, if one group progresses through an assessment at a substantially lower rate than the group with the highest selection rate, that stage may deserve further investigation.

  2. Flag potential adverse impact

The agent can apply the Four-Fifths Rule to calculate an impact ratio for each group relative to the group with the highest selection rate.

An impact ratio below 0.80 flags potential adverse impact for further review. Where supported by the available data, statistical significance testing can help put the observed difference into context.

The point isn’t to declare a hiring process discriminatory from a single number. It’s to help your team identify where a more detailed review may be needed.

  3. Understand where in the hiring funnel to investigate

Instead of looking only at the final number of hires, examine selection outcomes at individual stages.

A difference may first appear during résumé screening, an assessment, or an interview.

Identifying the stage where selection rates diverge gives your HR team a more focused starting point for reviewing criteria, processes, and job-related requirements.

  4. Evaluate whether your assessment predicts relevant outcomes

Suppose your company pays for a technical assessment or structured screening test. You want to know whether the assessment scores are meaningfully related to relevant job outcomes.

Provide suitable predictor scores and outcome data. The selection-validity tool can examine their correlation, while Taylor–Russell methods can help estimate expected hiring success using assessment validity, the selection ratio, and the existing success rate.

This gives your team evidence to consider when evaluating the usefulness of an assessment—not just its popularity or cost.

  5. Estimate the financial value of a recruitment method

You may be considering a new assessment that costs money to administer. Is the potential improvement in selection outcomes worth that expense?

The agent’s utility-analysis tool applies the Brogden–Cronbach–Gleser framework to estimate the potential financial value of a selection method using relevant inputs, such as validity, applicant-pool size, performance-value variation, expected predictor scores, and costs.

The estimate depends on the assumptions and quality of the data supplied. It helps frame the business question in financial terms rather than treating the assessment’s price as the only consideration.

  6. Review cutoff options with fairness in mind

Cutoff scores influence who progresses and how selective a hiring process becomes. Using the available validity and selection-ratio inputs, the agent can help evaluate cutoff options.

These findings should be considered alongside job-related requirements, selection-rate differences, sample sizes, and the broader hiring context. A numerical recommendation should not replace professional review.

  7. Ask follow-up questions in plain language

Once the MCP is connected, you can ask your AI agent to explain the results and help identify the next questions your team should investigate.

    For example:

“Review these hiring-stage selection rates by group. Which stages should we investigate for potential adverse impact?”

“Calculate the selection-rate ratios and explain which results fall below the Four-Fifths Rule threshold.”

“Using these predictor scores and job-outcome data, assess whether our recruitment assessment is related to relevant outcomes.”

“Estimate the potential utility of this selection method using the supplied hiring and cost assumptions.”

“Explain what the results of this hiring-impact analysis mean and what limitations we should consider.”

The exact analysis available depends on the MCP tools, data, and inputs provided. The agent helps your team interpret the evidence; it does not automatically establish the cause of a disparity or make a legal determination.

That’s the Shift

From reviewing hiring numbers without knowing where to start, to a more structured process for examining selection-rate differences, evaluating assessments, and estimating recruitment value.

The goal is not to automate sensitive hiring decisions.

It’s to give HR, talent acquisition, DEI, and compliance teams clearer analytical evidence so they can investigate concerns and make more informed, fairness-conscious decisions.
